If I am a sole trader, among my OSH & Fire Safety liabilities are:
OSH & Fire Safety training is mandatory for all employees. The staff shall be trained before starting the job and then in regular intervals. The aim of the OSH training is familiarizing the staff with the occupational risks that threaten their safety and health. The aim of the Fire Safety training is familiarizing the staff with the dangers of fire when performing tasks related to their work. Employees can also be trained in other courses such as professional training on higher fire danger (fire patrol, fire safety preventionist).
OSH and Fire Safety Documentation is a file of documents providing for prevention of work-related risks, and for prevention of fire. It is mandatory and custom-made for every company. Among the fundamental parts of OSH are: Categorization of work, Risk assessment, First aid plan; Fire Safety covers Fire risk classification, Fire alarm directive, Fire order, Evacuation plan, and others.
The employer must start and keep a Log of occupational injuries where all work-related injuries of employees are registered. These injuries need to be investigated, recorded and reported. The employer is also obliged to prevent recurrence of such injury.
The Labour Code stipulates that employers are required to provide their employees with the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) where the work-related risks cannot be decreased or removed by means of collective protection or protective measures in the scope of work organization.
The employer is obliged to carry out an OSH inspection and a preventive check of Fire Safety in all the workplaces, which is commonly known as the Audit of OSH & Fire Safety.
Before starting the job, every employee must undergo a medical examination at the health care centre that the employer has concluded a contract on provision of occupational medical services with. The examination is then periodically repeated depending on the work performed and the age of the employee.
Depending on the operation of the company, the employer is further obliged to execute inspections and revisions of other equipment such as electrical appliances, racks, ladders, machinery and so forth.
